It rained heavily on the hills and in the plains. The water of the river rose up and overflowed the banks. It stole over the country side. At about 4 P. M. It entered our city. After three hours, the whole district becomes a flooded area. Postal and railway service were dislocated and the district was cut off from outside communication. Thousands of people were made homeless. Hundreds of villages were swept away. Crops, stored grains and fodder were destroyed. A large number of men and cattle were missing. In our city, the flood presented a very dangerous scene. It destroyed the normal and powerful life of the city. People were running to their houses. Some persons were going to the safe place in the tongas and carriages. A few boats came out of the river with water. Some people began to know them. The water was flowing like streams in the streets, on roads and in compounds of the houses. The mud houses collapsed. Many building were damaged. House hold articles such as woods post, boxes, clothes, soaps and oil barrels were floating on water. The people were seen perched on the roofs of their house and clinging to trees.
