A large number of men and cattle were missing. In our city, the flood presented a very dangerous scene. It destroyed the normal and powerful life of the city. People were running to their houses. Some persons were going to the safe place in the tongas and carriages. A few boats came out of the river with water. Some people began to know them. The water was flowing like streams in the streets, on roads and in compounds of the houses. The mud houses collapsed. Many building were damaged. House hold articles such as woods post, boxes, clothes, soaps and oil barrels were floating on water. The people were seen perched on the roofs of their house and clinging to trees.
The water subsided next day in the morning. There was mud for miles round. Fallen houses and dead bodies of man and animals created horror in the hearts of the people relief agencies started their work to help the people. Shelter and food were provided to the people. The people started funds to help the poor. It was hoped that life would be normal in few days.
