College Convocation
There are seventh May was fixed for the convocation in our college. The secretary of education was to preside over the function. Great preparations were made for his reception. Invitations were issued to the local gentry and the district officers. The gates of the college were decorated with flower post and buntings. The college hall was also ornamented. A raised dais was prepared at the farthest end for the chief guest. To the right and left there were tables for prizes and chair for distinguished visitors and the staff. In front of the dais, the boys sat on the benches. Various prizes arranged on the tables. They were handsomely tied with ribbons.The chief gust arrived at 4 p.m. The principal and the senior members of the staff received him at the entrance. When he entered the hall, all rose in their places. After he has taken his seat, the vice-principal of the college called the students who had come to receive their degree, in groups of fives. The principal awarded them the degrees of B.A. and B.Sc. When this was over, the principal read out the annual report of the college was a very satisfactory record of all-round progress. The principal advised the students to prove themselves good citizens in the practical life. After this the chief guest was asked to give away the prizes to the good students and good player of the college.
Then, the chief guest made a short but sweet speech. He expressed his pleasure at the progress which the college had made. He exhorted the teacher to keep the high ideals of their profession always before them. He advised the students to be honest and upright. He promised to consider the needs of the college and to do what was possible to meet them. After a vote of thanks to the chief guest the meeting dispersed. The degree-holders and the prize-winners left the hall with faces beaming with delight.
