A Journey by Train

A Journey by Train

The memory of my last train journey is still fresh in my mind. It was so sweet and enjoyable.
Last December, Aslam invited me and other friends to his marriage at Lahore. We were glad at the news. We decided to leave for Lahore on the 26th December. All arrangements were made without delay. Hiring a taxi, we went to the Multan station.
At the station, we found ourselves in the midst of a number of coolies. Each of them wanted to take our luggage. We made our way through the crowd. The train had come. With great difficulty; we were able to find room for ourselves. There was a great rush in the compartment. The guard blew his whistle and the train steamed out of the station.
The train was running through the green fields it was the morning time the farmers were busy in their work in the fields. Birds were chirping in trees. There were village here and there. Children were playing in them. The train stopped at khanewal for ten minutes because it is junction. It again steamed off. The distant trees seemed to move in the opposite direction. Now there was a sudden change in the weather. The sky was overcast with clouds. It began to rain. When we reached Sahiwal, it was again clear. In the compartment, the people were discussing various matters. My friends were playing cards. I could not sleep the previous night. Now I was felling sleepy. I lay down and slept. When I got up, we were nearing Lahore. We got down when the train stopped. Aslam had come to receive us.
