How I Spent My Vacation
The vacation is for us the period
of rest from work. A few days before we begin making preparations. All work and
study are postponed.
The last day came and started for
home. In the evening, I reached home and was glad to see my father, mother,
brother, and sisters. They showered question after question on me about my
studies and college. With my answers I satisfied them. The next few days, I
spent a visiting friends and relations, there was a marriage and I had to go
with the party to Multan. I enjoyed the trip immensely. It was a welcome change
in my daily life.
One more week, I stayed at home. I
attended to my studies in the morning. I spent the rest of the day in the
fields. I superintended the crops, and sometimes, took my share in the
ploughing. This life in the open has great attractions for me. After a
fortnight spent in this way, I went to Fort Munro. It is a little hill station
about 54 miles west of Dera Ghazi Khan. I stayed there for ten days. I had a
very enjoyable time there. My health improved a great deal. The whole
atmosphere was peaceful.
One return, we started a football
club in the town. The young men of our block took to the game with great zeal
and liked it very much. In the afternoon, I used to teach Urdu to a few
shopkeepers. I am glad to say that some ten or twelve men are now able to read
and write Urdu. Thus I passed my vacation usefully. Black Monday came. I packed
up my things and left home for college again.
