My Native Town
Dera Ghazi Khan is my native town. It is a small town with a
population of 80 thousand. It was constructed in 1910. It has been named after
a chieftain Ghazi Khan “Dera Ghazi Khan” means the living place of Ghazi Khan.
The present D.G. Khan is situated about 10 miles west of the river Indus.
Dera Ghazi Khan is a planned town. It is divided in to many
blocks. The blocks are separated from each other by wide and metalled roads.
The streets are wide but are not paved with bricks. Most of the houses are
cemented and double storeyed. The number of kaicha houses is very limited. All
the houses are clean and well ventilated. Beside the proper city there are two colonies
outside the city.
People of my native town are very simple and good hearted.
This town produces a lot of raw material. But there is no major industry in the
town. So most of the people are farmers or businessmen. People on the whole are
poor. But these people are very hospitable. This town has produced such great scholars
of Arabic language as Maulvi Fazal
Haque.
My town has two colleges, one for boys and the other for
girls. There are four high schools, three for boys and one for girls. Three are
also twenty five primary schools in the town. Town hall is a building that is
situated in the center of the town. Government college building, District Hospital
building, the shrine of mulla Quaid shah and the railway station are place
worth seeing. Here we have three gardens. Children`s park is only for the
children where they enjoying their evenings. For the entertainment of the
people there exist four cinemas also. The bazar of the city are well decorated
and the shops packed with the thing of daily use. One can get from here things
of every sort. The countryside around the city is very charming and refreshing.
The future of this town is very high.
